EVO ICL in Tysons, VA

Residents of Tysons, VA, and surrounding areas can benefit from the eye treatments we offer at Anh Nguyen Ophthalmology. From refractive errors to implantable lenses, we can address a number of vision problems and eye conditions and ensure the health of your vision.

What is EVO ICL?

An EVO ICL, or implantable collamer lens, is an artificial lens used to correct refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It’s placed in front of the eye’s natural lens and behind the iris. It can be incredibly effective at giving you crystal-clear vision long-term. The lens is also a great alternative to laser procedures. ICLs can also be removed whenever necessary, and the procedure only takes about 10-15 minutes per eye. With our team at Anh Nguyen Ophthalmology, you could not be in better hands.

Laser Eye Surgery in Tysons, VA

Laser eye surgery can be incredibly effective at treating a variety of eye concerns. Whether you’re struggling with cataracts or refractive errors, laser surgery at Anh Nguyen Ophthalmology can be the perfect treatment option for you. Some of the laser surgeries we offer include the following:

Laser Cataract Surgery

Laser cataract surgery is precise, accurate, and effective when treating cataracts. To ensure you achieve the results you desire, we start by using 3D mapping. From there, we numb the eye and then make a tiny incision in the cornea. The laser will then be used to break up the cataract, allowing you to see more clearly. The procedure can also include placing an IOL to correct astigmatism.

LASIK Surgery

LASIK surgery, which stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis is a very popular procedure that corrects refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It achieves results by reshaping the cornea so light rays can focus correctly on the back of the eye.

PRK

PRK, or photorefractive keratectomy, is the procedure that was used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism before LASIK surgery was discovered. While it’s just as effective, because the entire first layer of the cornea is removed, the recovery time is longer. However, it is a great option for patients who can’t have LASIK surgery.

Common Eye Conditions in Tysons, VA

We also offer treatment for a number of common eye conditions at Anh Nguyen Ophthalmology. Some of the conditions we treat include:

Cornea Problems

Whether it’s an injury or a specific condition, there are several issues that can affect the cornea of the eye. Some of the problems include the following:

  • Injury: Minor scratches to the cornea can heal on their own, but deeper injuries need to be treated by professionals to ensure you don’t develop scarring or impaired vision.
  • Keratoconus: Keratoconus causes the normally dome-shaped cornea to become more cone-shaped and bulge forward. This causes extremely blurry vision.
  • Keratitis: Keratitis is the inflammation of the cornea and is often caused by a minor injury.
  • Dry eye syndrome: Dry eye syndrome is one of the most common eye conditions and can cause itchiness in the eyes. Typically, artificial tears are enough to manage symptoms.
  • Pterygium: Pterygium is a fleshy growth that appears on the surface of the cornea. This is usually due to excessive UV exposure. Generally, they are harmless but can cause vision problems and irritation if left untreated.
  • Fuch’s Dystrophy: This condition progresses slowly over time and causes the endothelial cells to die off. As these cells deteriorate, excess fluid builds up in the cornea and causes swelling. The cornea will also become opaque, leading to blindness.

Retina Problems

Many different conditions can affect the retina. Retinal issues and diseases we treat at Anh Nguyen Ophthalmology include:

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease that occurs when the drainage system in the eye becomes blocked, causing fluid to build up and leading to intraocular pressure to become dangerously high. As the pressure builds up, it also pushes your eye back onto the optic nerve, which is what sends brain signals from the retina. If the optic nerve is damaged, you can experience permanent vision loss.

The most common form of glaucoma is open-angle glaucoma and often shows no signs or symptoms. That’s why it’s important to see your eye doctor regularly to check your intraocular pressure and catch glaucoma early.

Ptosis

Ptosis is a condition where the levator muscle, which is responsible for raising your upper eyelid, stretches and weakens over time. As a result, the eyelid droops and can block your vision. Luckily, with ptosis surgery, we can address the issue and ensure your vision is clear and unobstructed.
